Feel awkward in front of the camera? You're not alone.
If the thought of having your photograph taken together makes you feel a little awkward, I promise you're not the only ones!
Lots of couples tell me they don't know what to do in front of the camera, especially if you're not the sort of couple who are particularly affectionate in public. And that's completely fine. You don't need to know how to pose, and you definitely don't need to suddenly become models for the day.
Instead, I’ll give you little prompts and things to do so that you can focus on each other rather than worrying about where you're supposed to put your hands!
Walking together, chatting, laughing, holding hands or having a cuddle can all create those lovely natural moments that make photographs feel like you. Sometimes the best photographs happen in between the things I've asked you to do.
No awkward posing required
I don't want your couples photography session to feel like a series of stiff poses. I'll gently guide you throughout the session, but I won't ask you to do anything that feels uncomfortable or unnatural.
If something doesn't feel like you, just tell me. We'll try something else.
My aim is for you to forget about the camera as much as possible and just enjoy spending some time together. You might feel a little silly at first, but most couples relax surprisingly quickly once we get started.
Choosing your Dorset location
Where you have your photographs taken can make a huge difference too. Choosing somewhere that you both enjoy or somewhere that has a special meaning to your relationship can make the whole experience feel much more natural.
Maybe that's your favourite beach, a woodland you love walking through, somewhere you had your first date or simply a beautiful place where you enjoy spending time together. I'm always happy to chat through ideas and help you find somewhere that feels right.
Ultimately, your couples photography session isn't about creating a collection of perfect poses. It's about capturing you two, the laughs, the little looks, the cuddles and all those small moments that make your relationship yours.
